How to install CaskWidge
- Ensure casks are upright and have been settled for a minimum of 12 hours.
- Place a thermometer onto the top of the cask and check that it has reached the correct cellar temperature of 11-12oc before tapping.
- Follow the CaskWidge instruction guide for Tapping, Venting and Conditioning the cask. Make sure the venting tap wings are in the open position for conditioning.
- Check the clarity and take a taste sample by using a CaskWidge Clarity Taste Sampler.
- Remove ALL old fittings from the ends of your beerlines and connect a CaskWidge Pipe Connector, for a fully compatible airtight fit.
- Fit the CaskWidge Pipe Connectors (making sure the red washer is in place) using the hose clip provided to create a good airtight seal.
- Softening the beerlines by dipping them into warm water first, can help achieve a good connection.
- Once ready to serve, assemble the remaining parts as per the instruction guide and then lower the float through the centre of the cask tap slowly. Screw on the beerline.
- You are now ready to serve. Do not disturb the cask until empty.
Following installation if you experience fobbing or air bubbles in the beerlines, in the first instance please check the cellar temperature at the location of the casks (not just the coolers reading) is 11oc.
Then please ensure the cask has had adequate time to complete the second fermentation process during the conditioning time. This will vary depending on the brew but can be from 12 hours (with a brew like Doombar) to 3 days (with a brew like Timothy Taylors which notoriously takes time to settle).
Air can also be due to the non-return valves in the beer pump on the bar, showing signs of wear and may need replacing.
